At Women in AI we’d like to inspire others by featuring female role models that are making a difference in AI. We aim to empower women who are working in AI by highlighting their success stories. This way we hope to inspire other women and girls to get into STEM-related fields. In our series ‘In the Spotlight’ we shine a light on an expert in the field and today we’d like you to meet Anouk Dutrée.
Author: Ingrid van Heuven van Staereling.
Anouk is the Head of Product at UbiOps. With this AI infrastructure platform they help teams to easily run their AI & ML workloads at scale. She studied Nanobiology and Computer Science at the Delft University of Technology, and obtained a Master’s in Game Development at Falmouth University. “This sparked my interest in Machine Learning and everything AI.” -She tells us enthusiastically. “I absolutely love the fast paced AI space where everything is continuously changing!” Through her work at UbiOps she aims to help companies get their AI applications production ready quickly, reliably and responsibly.
Next to her role at UbiOps, she also frequently writes for Towards Data Science/Medium about various MLOps topics. “And I co-host the biggest Dutch data podcast, de Dataloog.” -Anouk ads. During these events, she likes to make difficult topics easily understandable, while also staying up to date with everything happening in the field of AI. “My efforts in tech have been awarded twice with the T500 award, in both 2020 and 2021.” As a nominee for the Women in AI Award she is in the running towards another possible award to add to that collection!
Through her role at UbiOps she is in charge of the product roadmap, vision and development of the UbiOps platform. “Every day, I work to improve UbiOps, enabling companies to turn their AI ambitions into reality by deploying AI models seamlessly across any infrastructure.” In her experience, most of these ‘MLOps’ products are focused at software engineers with extensive cloud knowledge. “But with UbiOps I strive to make MLOps accessible for Data Scientists too without the need for specific IT skills.” This way UbiOps accelerates the time to market for AI initiatives, empowering Dutch companies without requiring massive teams.
To further support companies in transitioning from AI proof of concept to fully deployed products, Anouk actively engages with the AI community. “I have presented on MLOps concepts and their practical applications at various Dutch events such as World Summit AI Amsterdam and F&A Next, as well as at community-focused gatherings like the Women in AI Circle Amsterdam and MLOps community meetups in Amsterdam.” In addition to speaking engagements, she contributes to AI-centered publications like Towards Data Science, breaking down complex AI topics to a broader audience.
"I try to make a significant impact on the Dutch AI ecosystem."
Anouk is dedicated to raising awareness about AI’s possibilities, risks, and practical applications through ‘De Dataloog’; a Dutch data-centric podcast. “Our episodes cover a wide range of topics, from digital transformations to the latest AI trends.” With this podcast she had the opportunity to interview numerous distinguished individuals in the AI space, including Arno van Rijswijk (Head of Data at NPO), Willem Jonker (Chairman of AiNed), and Joris Broeren (Chief Data Officer at HagaZiekenhuis). With over 19,000 unique listeners annually, ‘De Dataloog’ helps to disseminate valuable insights to a broad audience.
“Through these efforts, I try to make a significant impact on the Dutch AI ecosystem.” By fostering knowledge sharing, reducing barriers to AI adoption, and promoting the practical application of AI technologies she does her best to make an impact on the field of AI.
With her efforts to continuously strive to improve UbiOps, many use the platform to power important AI applications. “For example, UbiOps allows Hoge Raad to pseudonymise court decisions, and ReefSupport relies on UbiOps for their coral reef monitoring applications.” Anouk is eager to share how her work within the company impacts the world. “It showcases the platform’s significant impact on important global issues.” To support companies in transitioning from AI proof of concept to fully deployed products, she actively engages with the international AI community. She was able to present the practical applications at global events. “These engagements allow me to share insights and best practices with a global audience.”
