Diversity in AI fields
It is important to work towards an inclusive AI that benefits our society. Our non-profit, community-driven initiative is committed to bringing empowerment, knowledge and active collaboration around AI into the world. We do this through education, research, events, and blogging. At Women in AI (WAI) we empower women and minorities to become AI & Data experts, innovators and leaders. We encourage ethical applications and responsible use of artificial intelligence.
An active AI community
We believe in the power of our community, based on mutual support, caring, and sharing. This way we hope to bring awareness, inspire and educate next generations. WAI was originally founded in 2016 in Paris, France, by Dr. Hanan Salam, Caroline Lair and Moojan Asghari. What initially started with a small Facebook group has grown into a powerful community with more than 8.000 members (and counting) in 140 countries. This powerful group of volunteers are actively changing the role of women and minorities in AI.
Connect and share at WAI Circles
At Women in AI we are all about connecting and sharing knowledge about AI. This is why we organize a monthly gathering called ‘WAI Circle’. Every 2nd Thursday of the month we welcome women in AI who present mini-lectures, panels, and workshops to help us with demystifying AI. Interested in joining one of our circles? The WAI Gala 2024
On February 9th we celebrated and connected with our community at the Women in AI Netherlands Gala of 2024. We had an unforgettable evening and were so happy to see members of our community connect and share experiences about their passion of AI technology.

Bringing ambitious women together with WAI Mentor
With our mentorship program we are bringing together women in the beginning of their career with more experienced professionals to help them grow. This inspiring program helps to bring new AI & Data experts, innovators and leaders into this world. The main focus is on developing soft skills and setting career goals to move up in the field of AI. Our first program will run from May 2023 to September 2023.
