WAI Amsterdam City Lead
We are looking for organized, social, and entrepreneurial City Lead for our WAI Circle. The volunteer is responsible for organizing content-driven monthly or quarterly meetups for the WAI community in your city. You will report to the WAI Circle Program Lead and have a City Manager to support you. This position is perfect for candidates who are at university and want to inspire girls to be in AI or for professionals in the AI or events field who want to support our mission of empowering women in the field of AI.
Who we are
Women in AI (WAI) is a nonprofit do-tank working towards inclusive AI that benefits global society. We are a community-driven initiative bringing empowerment, knowledge, and active collaboration via education, research, events, and blogging. At Women in AI, we empower women and minorities to become AI & Data experts, innovators, and leaders. We encourage ethical applications and responsible use of artificial intelligence. WAI was founded in 2016 in Paris, France, by Dr. Hanan Salam, Caroline Lair, and Moojan Asghari. What initially started with a small Facebook group has grown into a powerful community with more than 10.000 members (and counting) in 140 countries. The WAI NL team comprises 15 volunteers who want to support our mission to make AI inclusive. Our team is working on mentorship programs, a youth activation program, an inclusive talent fair, and accelerator programs.
About how we work
The WAI NL team meets twice a month in the evenings after work (once online and once in person) to collaborate and develop programs and content for our WAI community. Volunteers dedicate approximately 3-5 hours per week related to their role and responsibilities.
About the role
- Contact speakers to present mini-lectures, panels, or workshops during the circle
- Coordinate with the venue to make sure the logistics are organized for each circle
- Organize our (monthly) meet up where our community can connect and share knowledge
- Manage logistics at one of our partner locations on the day of your Circle
- Set up the first Women in AI Circle in Utrecht together with your co-lead
Circle events will be hosted at:
- Amsterdam
- Den Haag
- Rotterdam
- Eindhoven
- Nijmegen
- Utrecht
Who you are
- You are fluent in English
- Dutch is a plus
- You are knowledgeable about AI technology and trends
- You know how to curate content that people want to hear
- You are social and love connecting with others
- You have experience in creating event content (bonus not required)
- Ease with contacting people and tapping into both their own network and the network of the other ladies in the team
- Structured enough to manage coordination between speaker, venue, participants, and the rest of the circle leads
- Entrepreneurial energy to find a partner to host the circle and perhaps sponsor drinks and snacks
