We are excited to announce an opportunity for a passionate and dedicated individual to join our team as a Community Platform Lead. This volunteer position is ideal for someone who is enthusiastic about digital innovation, committed to promoting diversity in tech, and has experience in managing and enhancing community-driven platforms. As the Community Platform Lead, you will be responsible for the strategic oversight and operational excellence of our community platform. This position requires a deep understanding of digital technologies and community engagement strategies, ensuring the platform effectively integrates the visions of regional community leads and aligns with broader organizational goals.

Who we are​

Women in AI (WAI) is a nonprofit do-tank working towards inclusive AI that benefits global society. We are a community-driven initiative bringing empowerment, knowledge, and active collaboration via education, research, events, and blogging. At Women in AI, we empower women and minorities to become AI & Data experts, innovators, and leaders. We encourage ethical applications and responsible use of artificial intelligence. WAI was founded in 2016 in Paris, France, by Dr. Hanan Salam, Caroline Lair, and Moojan Asghari. What initially started with a small Facebook group has grown into a powerful community with more than 10.000 members (and counting) in 140 countries. The WAI NL team comprises 15 volunteers who want to support our mission to make AI inclusive. Our team is working on mentorship programs, a youth activation program, an inclusive talent fair, and accelerator programs. 

How we work

The WAI NL team meets twice a month in the evenings after work (once online and once in person) to collaborate and develop programs and content for our WAI community. Volunteers dedicate approximately 3-5 hours per week related to their role and responsibilities. 

About the role

  • Collaborate with Regional Leads:
    Work with regional community leads to gather insights and understand their expansion goals and requirements.
  • Develop and Implement Platform Strategies:
    Create and execute platform strategies that align with regional needs, enhancing user engagement and satisfaction.
  • Facilitate Communication:
    Ensure effective communication between community leads and the technical development team to guarantee timely and accurate implementation of required platform features.
  • Analyze Platform Data:
    Monitor platform usage and engagement data to identify trends, areas for improvement, and the effectiveness of newly implemented features.
  • Lead Platform Enhancements:
    Oversee platform enhancement projects from conceptualization through execution, ensuring all updates support the strategic objectives of community engagement.
  • Provide Regular Updates:
    Report to senior management and stakeholders on platform progress, challenges, and opportunities.

Who you are

  • Experience in Digital Platform Management:
    Proven track record in managing digital platforms, preferably with experience in community-driven platforms.
  • Leadership and Communication Skills:
    Excellent leadership and communication abilities, with the capability to manage cross-functional teams.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Abilities:
    Strong analytical skills and the ability to make data-driven decisions.
  • Knowledge of Digital Technologies:
    Understanding of the latest digital technologies and their application in driving community engagement and growth.
  • Project Management Experience:
    Experience in project management and stakeholder engagement.
