WAI Website Manager
We are looking for an detail-oriented, collaborative, and proactive Website Manager for the Marketing Team. The volunteer will report to the Digital Lead and is responsible for developing and maintaining the WAI NL website. This position is perfect for candidates who are at university and want experience in creating websites or for marketing professionals who want to support our mission of empowering women in the field of AI.
Who we are
Women in AI (WAI) is a nonprofit do-tank working towards inclusive AI that benefits global society. We are a community-driven initiative bringing empowerment, knowledge, and active collaboration via education, research, events, and blogging. At Women in AI, we empower women and minorities to become AI & Data experts, innovators, and leaders. We encourage ethical applications and responsible use of artificial intelligence. The WAI NL chapter was founded in 2018 and is one of the most active WAI chapters globally with over 7.5K followers and 1.5K members. The WAI NL team comprises of 55 volunteers who want to support our mission to make AI inclusive. Our team runs 4 programs and over 35 events a year.
About how we work
The WAI NL team meets twice a month in the evenings after work (once with the entire team and once with your department team) to collaborate and develop programs and content for our WAI community. Volunteers dedicate approximately 3-5 hours per week related to their role and responsibilities.
About the role
- Create website pages for our different programs and events
- Maintain website, updating site with accurate information
- Add upcoming events to website
- Create and/or upload blogs about our programs, events, and community
- Create a UX strategy that resonates with our brand
- Review website and practices for best SEO
Who you are
- Proficiency in WordPress and PHP: Strong understanding of WordPress themes, plugins, and core functions, along with PHP programming skills.
- Experience with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript: Solid knowledge of front-end web development technologies for customizing and enhancing website features.
- Familiarity with SEO Best Practices: Understanding of search engine optimization techniques to improve site visibility and ranking.
- Graphic Design Skills: Experience with design tools like Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator for creating and editing visual content.
- Knowledge of AI and Automation Tools: Familiarity with integrating AI functionalities and automation tools within WordPress.
- Strong Communication and Teamwork Abilities: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a collaborative team environment.
